Never used one. I guess I got lucky with my release choice, because I have not ever had to replace a string or serving due to wear from the release in the 6 or so seasons I have hunted with a release. If I had a longer draw, or super shot bow, or shot competition, I would add a loop. As is, I do just fine without it. There are reasons to not use one for me, the main one being that a loop very well can come undone.
