Id go with either the 40 or 45 cal, a 44 may be a bit much for home protection but would deffinatly get the point across in a hurry, im sure shed be looking into something with a small frame and Taurus hage a very large selection of small frame, and medium frame revolvers.
Agree - Taurus makes excellent defense sized hg's. We have a couple .357 Mag/ .38 Specials that are perfect for concealment and pack quite a punch. Plus there's nothing like the sound of a well built revolver as you pull back the hammer
