Like most sports you have those who are gifted and those that work hard to attain the level they desire to be at.

Thats doesn't mean the gifted ones don't work at it, it just comes easier.

I imagine there are many great 3d shooters who choke on a chip shot at a live animal, and a lot of successful hunters who couldn't compete at 3d.

Competition drives some and consumes others. My golf swing, wouldn't neccesarily be taught, but I beat guys with better swings, routinely.
