My release is always hooked to the D loop even though I use a wrist style release.
I take it you hunt sitting down....
Well I sit most of the time. but even when I stand I hook my release to my loop and rest the bottom cam against my leg. (I make sure to keep my finger BEHIND the trigger.
Nothing like having my 1000 dollar bow fall 20ft to the ground.[:-])
