I wouldn't say the older savages were not well built, they are built very well. A more accurate statement would be they don't have great fit and finish on them, which is why they were cheaper. If they were not well built they wouldn't be accurate or last as long as they do. And some of the newer savages are darn right beautiful guns now.

Saying they are not built well makes them sound like junk, and that just isn't the case. If you want junky look at the remington 710.
