I would recommend the Tikka T3. This is an excellent gun that shoots great out of the box, has an adjustable trigger and the smoothest bolt in a production rifle. This is the best value for your hard earned dollar.

As far as caliber, I vote for the 7mm Rem Mag. I feel this is the most versatile hunting rounds available.
