Wait until it cools off and go pull the stand. Do not kill them. We have some that just took over a trunk on our tree in the front yard. I don't know how many live there but it's got to be several thousand. The population has really grown since we first noticed them.They have never bothered us even when we mow the lawn right under the nest. Bet there is some great honey in my tree.
