So whats your opinions on these bullets---As far as mushing and
weight retention after inpact...I'm trying to decide which bullets to
order...My season is open now here....( DEER DAMAGE PERMITS)
Figured it is a good time to test them befor the season in PA,
opens...Thanks for all your replies------Johnny
I've never tried them but, if your looking for mushrooming and weight retention try some Barnes Expander MZ's
+1 for the Barnes MZ.They were on sale for $12.99 for 20 bullets over on Traditions Web site in the bargin bin.
Another excellent bullet isBarnes FlatNose .458 45/70 bullets, using crushed rib sabot, Barnes Part Number 45843. They shot excellent in my Savage with 44g of 5744, they were $17 for 20 and the .458 bullets here:

As for weight retention after impact forthe SW/SST, well I have read and have seen in ballistics teststhat 250g fragments sometimes, the 300g is good, but sometimes shoots thru deer without expansion, some folks shootfor the shoulder with this bullet to get the great expansion. They are accurate as heck and only about $.50 each. I am not saying the 250 don't kill, they do. I am notsaying that the 300 don't kill, they just sometimes shoot thru without expansion and you have a 150 or 200 yard blood trail to follow. In tall grass or corn that is a big issue.
