Default Stand placement "strategy"

I found out a long time ago......getting deer in range is only part of the equation. I've said it before.....when a lot of people tell me they "Decided not to shoot a deer".....I subconsciously add my own "at" behind their "shoot". You could build a Wal-Mart in between seeing a deer......and putting him on the ground.

One thing I look for in a stand site is......a large tree in close proximity to the one I'm in. I've got some perfect spots, like this. I took 3 deer from one of them, last fall.......2 in the same day. This spot has a large diameter tree about 8-10' in front of the tree I'm in. I use this tree to shield my draw and me (drawing when it's between the deer and me).

Anyone else look for these type setups? If not.....it's somehting to think about.

Any downfalls to this that you know of?
