No, you don't just climb a random tree and sit there. You need to foot it around ASAP. Season is approaching and you don't want to be out there pressuring the deer so close to season. Heres my advice, find a trail and follow it being sure not to walk directly on it but at least 10-15 feet to the side of it. See if it leads to water, food or a bedding area. Find out where these deer are traveling and maybe put up a camera or two to see what times of the day they are using the trails. You definitely want to be set up on a trail, intersection or some kind of funnel. Be sure to be as scent free as possible when scouting at this time of year. Once you pick a good tree to use go ahead and get your stand hung and you shooting lanes trimmed now!
