try the hornady 58grain v-max at 3760fps and you've got a great long range varmint gun,my rem.700 loves them and my savage 110 will shoot them around 1 1/2 inch groups.I dont think they are heavy enough for deer though,I'm sure many have been killed with them,for deer I like the 100 grain federal fusion in 243 and the 150 or 165 light mag in 308.
