He may be that, but I really think that he was trying to help you in this instance. If you are willing to get out up in the air and conduct this experiement, I would think that you would want to be as precise as possible and that is most likely the same assumption that GMMAT made. if you don't care about hitting more thana 2-3 inch mark, then why were you bothering with the experiment in the first place?

No it wasn't. But if your magin for error is outside the discrepancy in choosing the right v. wrong pin......this exercise won't do you much good. The beauty of that is......it also shouldn't matter to you in the field.
