The only way you will truly know what they know is if they show us. So many don't.
For this reason, I insist on our videos showing our team members shed hunting, filming velvet footage, scouting, setting stands, hunting, and not always killing (that isn't the reality of hunting - period!!!).
Unfortanately, the market is such that it insists on watching nothing but "hunt-kill". The only way to change this is to tell them how you feel. We've had TONS of good feedback because we show that we actually do "everything" - and not just go on outfitted hunt after outfitted hunt where someone else is doing all the "work".....
Todd, this is so true. Unfortunately since many of the shows being referenced are on TV there is a very finite amount of time to tell your story and get your footage in. Generally for a 30 minute show, you're looking at 17-22 minutes for your show, which also has to include your intro, credits, host lead-ins,and sponsor spots. So, that doesn't leave a lot of time for actual footage.
I know I don't need to tell you this as you already know, but most guys out there don't realize what goes into a 30 minute show. You guys do a great job of balancing the hunting action and scouting, networking, shed hunting, etc. on your DVDs. I'd love to see how you put it together into a show. I think you guys could do a good job of it, but many others just focus on that kill.
There are a few that have some balance in their shows, but to me, they are the elite. Some can't show balance, because they don't have any.
