Choose the reticle you like best. I'm a simple guy and prefer the plain old duplex crosshairs. I have a 4.5x14 leupold and love it. I sent it to Premire Reticle a few years back and had an elevation knob installed. That makes for a pretty nice set up. The bad thing is Premire no longer does this to Leupolds. Leupold has that 4.5x14 in a 30mm tube with side focus that looks sweet. While I don't have the 4.5x14 side focus I have a few of the 8.5x25 scopes with it and they are great. The side focus in my opinion is worth the extra $$ on a hunting set up.
If you plan on shooting over 300 yards go with something that has an easy to use elevation knob. Go to
www.biggameinfo.com and print yourself a drop chart. Go to the range be sure it works. Go hunting Click to it and shoot. Thats much less confusing than all those lines or dots in any scope.
