Default New Jersey gobbler.........

After a long winter and a shortened deer season due to our son being born right before shotgun, I was looking forward to turkey. Left my house at 3.50am and arrived at the club at 5.15am. It was 62 degrees but muggy and I set up next to a small ridge along a trail. I heard a gobbler on the roost about 75yds away and we traded calls for about 15 minutes. He flew off the roost and beelined to my jake/hen decoy set. I made a few purrs and then took him at about 35 yds.

I wish my Dad hadnt blown me off as this was a classic hunt. I also heard 3 other birds gobbling but they all shut up by 6.15am.

He weighed about 20 lbs and had a 9 1/2 in beard.
