I too have both and have zero preferance in the calibers. The gun configuration is the detrmaning factor. my 06 is 7 pounds my 7 mm is 11 so depending on what I am doing determines which I grab. Either one of them will be a dandy deer/hog gun. If I were wanting to mix coyotes in the mix I would go with a 308.
