I own both the 30-06 and the 7mm mag. To argue one over the other is like getting in a pissing match with a skunk. Ialso have beenreloading both for over 20 yearsso the I have become very familiar with the versitility and performance of each. I prefer my 7 mm mag though. This is simply due to the fact that it shoots alot flatter than the 06. I just feel a little more comfortable with the 7 mm mag at longer distances (a facter in hunting situations I face in the fall). Yes the 06 can do the job at 300 yards but I guess it is just personal preference. If I wasn't reloading and had to buy my ammo then I think I would choose the 06. The 06 has a greater choice of store bought ammo (plus a big price difference).
