I have no opinion specific to the BAR, in fact, I looked at one in .300WM last weeekend.

My personal opinions or preferences are this.
Single shots for learning.
Doubles for upland.
Pump and auto for waterfowl.
Bolts for hunting rifles.

That said, I have a .223 single that is a tack driver. I have a .22 auto for small game. I have a Benelli field and a Benelli Nova, and I don' t do alot of waterfowling, and I have my fater-in-laws 760 woodsman 30-06 pump.
