RE: So... You plan to plant clover? -Tips from members
It is interesting to see you fellows talk about how much top soil and PH for the clover. In my area of northern Mississippi, you are lucky to get a place for a food plot that has even one good inch of topsoil. I usually have to work with mostly clay and some spots that may be sandy. But don' t worry, I planted the Ladino clover and the clover doesn' t seem to mind. Limed and fertilized and it is in its 3rd. year. Very thick in my one plot on the edge of a hayfield. Growth in a monitor cage is 24 inches, but the field height averages 6-8 inches. Something seems to be cropping my field. Two new plots this year, just coming on. About 2-3 inches, but a healthy green. Turkeys are the only problem, stripped a circle in the middle of one plot. Will overseed later. My plot may not be scientific, but it' s Clover.
