Thanks for being honest. It's kind of refreshing.

Once again, I dont just hunt private land and much of the private land I DO HUNT IS UNPOSTED AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

My observations about the first day hunters were about the Allegheny National Forest where I've spent every rifle opener for almost 40 years.
It takes up most of Forest, Elk, Warren and McKean Counties. Most of it is in 2F but some is in 2G.

I have also archery hunted with friends for several years in western 2G but not lately. I did so prior to AR/HR and all I saw there were overpopulated stunted herds running around in an overbrowsed forest. I passed through the Sproul last winter and the part I saw the worst deer habitat I've ever seen in this state. There were very few deer tracks but the habitat I saw was absolutely devoid of deer food.
It's not going to get better anytime soon either. The habitat is severely overbrowsed and the timber is in pole stage but most tree species presentwere junk as far as wildlife is concerned. IMHO deer numbers need to be kept low there but an aggressive forest regeneration program is sorely needed as well.
