Today they know danger is in the trees, I really cannot explain it. In 96 it became legal for gun hunters to hunt from trees, I supported it. Ever since then we have conidition the deer here to look up They did not before in SLP where I hunt.

I agree with gregh deer do not remember an incident where they busted you. Put come fall we have condition the deer to start looking for us. The older ones doe or buck seem to know where to look.
I've said that before as well Germ. Its amazing but I've seen it first hand as well and the woods I hunt doesn't hardly get hunted at all till late October. Were in there pretty heavy for a good 3 weeks but after that its maybe twice a week till the end of the season unless my brother and I are tagged out which 70% of the time we are. I think deer remember more then we think when they've had trouble in certain spots of the woods. I could be wrong but it sure seems that way. My dad feeds the deer in the winter in northern Mn and the same doe has been coming in every winter for 17+ years, she has no tail so thats how he knows its her. The 1st little cold snap of the year and she's in the yard whether there is corn there or not. To me thats having a pretty good memory.
