I try to go out in early march and based on what I saw the previous season I look for new stand sites while the leaves are still down and you can really see the area well. Then I use a climber to get up in the tree I choose and start to clear out a couple lanes. By the time fall arrives there may some return growth, but it has rarely ever been enough to cover the lane up and the deer have no idea.
