IMHO inside a store is probably the worst place you can look at a scope and evaluate it. Who actually makes the scope and its glass as well as the quality of the coatings on the glass is what I would look at. I've had deer in a plot I could see with the naked eye late in the afternoon and I could not see them thru a lower end scope. A cheap scope is usually just a cheap scope.
