RE: Post up you ATV/UTV...
Thanx Rob!! I'll remmeber to do the direct link thingy next time
ATV or snogosare pretty much a necessity here unless you have a boat or a plane. Yes you can hoof it and get way back in. For sheep & caribou no biggie because for sheep you are on foot anyway (those are sheep hills by the way in the background) and a caribou isn't much bigger then a deer but toss a moose in to the hunt and its another story. If you are in very far your gonna need lots of help either mechanically or have a bunch offriends. that are willing to pack back in just to haul meat out.I use either my 4 or 6 to get back in but hunt on foot once I'm there. There really aren't many trails around so folage & terrain dictate use most times and most times you have to park it and go from there. In the picture above I can barely get to my cabin as it is with an atv and only after I built a trail in after I leave the creek bed. Many times it has to be a hike in if weather, water or snow show up. Of course thats how & why I chose the spot to build to begin with. I don't get any company there except sheep hunters packing themselves in to those mountains of the Alaska Range. It was fun hauling all cabin materials in using my 4 & 6 and I would not have my cabin without them.
Oh my long bow is strapped to the ladder. The gun boot holds my sg. Lots of nasties around in the form of grizz.
