I missed the PA opener due to a conference baseball tournament. We did win and it was very exciting.
However, I did get to go hunting on monday. First thing in the morning i called in two jakes within 10 yards of my dad and myself. I wasn' t going to shoot a jake but he was. Sad thing though he couldnt see them due to a jagger bush. Oh, well he decided to go home to finish some work he had. In the mean time i went to an area i heard birds gobbling at in the morning. I set up and called for 45 mins. and nothing. Finally I switched setups and boom a gobble. I used my quaker boy mouth call and quad threat slat call to coax the bird into shooting range. 38 yards and he was down for the count. He weighed in at 21lbs. had a 10.5" beard and 7/8 " spurs, which suprised me because i figured they would be longer. It was definately a good monday morning.
