In 2006 the pgc allocated doe tags based on their research stating that there were 16-19 deer / sq mile . An independant co. recounted and found that there were more like 4-6 . The pgc didn't change the doe tag allocation . The whitetail deer heard is a thing of the past !
I am curious which wmu didn't hit the numbers ? I am expecting around Pittsburg , where everything is posted by either people who don't live there or by business who will let you hunt for a small price of $1000 / year !!!
What independent co are you talking about? I'd bet they were hired by the USP.If there were only 4-6 deer psm statewide as you say, how did hunters manage to kill a little over 7 deer per square mile in the 2007/08 season?

BTW here's the math:

323070 deer harvested in 2007/08
46058 total square miles in the state of Pennsylvania 44820 of which is land. That makes the average harvest rate 7.2 deer psm (assuming none were harvested from the water)

I guess we "borrowed" some, eh?

Oh, and it wasnt me Sproul....
i swear i saw him on stateforestland with GPS 100 yds from his truckLOST.
Maybe you need to dust the lenses on those bino's you keep in the truck if your going to try and watch folks 100 whole yards in from the truck seat. Hope that "killer tree" didnt damage them.

BTW your killer tree incident must have caused quite a stir up there in Sproulville. Such an unusual and sensational story! I'm sure the local papers would'verunthat on the front page. Where can we read about it?
I'm sure you have pictures ... why not post them so we can all learn how to avoid being impaled by those evil locust trees!
