Default Food Plots Destroyed By Cows. Pretty Bummed.

Well guys, had a little bad luck this past weekend. In early May, we planted 4500 trees and planted ladino clover between each row for our CRP and WHIP programs. We also planted sorghum, oats, lespedeza, millet, and sunflower plots. Well our land is 75 miles away and with gas prices we don't necessarily get up there every weekend but try to get up there about once a month to make sure trespassers haven't messed with the house, barn etc. Well after not being up there for a little over a month we were excited to see the growth of our trees along with the plots. To our demise, the neighbor’s cows apparently got through a downed fence and mowed our food plots to the bare soil. Our trees luckily were fine, which is good since they were the most expensive. We went to talk to him about the property damage but he wasn't home. We went to another neighbor’s house who told us the whole story. He predicted that they were out for at least 5 days and judging by the bare soil around the barn, damage to the pond and plots mowed to the roots we would agree. We sprayed this field to kill all the fescue last fall so basically the only thing growing is/was our food plots, trees, and Queens Anne's Lace that grows wild. Pretty disappointed. Weplan to put up the rest of our fence in the fall so that should take care of the problem. Anyway, has this every happened to anybody else? Did you get retribution for the damages?
