RE: Primers
Even with the same reloading manually, you'll see different manufacturers primers recommended for different calibers. Some primers have characteristics that match up better with magnum heavy load calibers, such as, .44 mag.
I try to stick with what the reloading manual recommends for a given caliber and load.
Winchester primers have at times been harder for me to come across in quantity. I use them for .357 mag reloading and large/magnum rifle loads, when called for.
I use Rem 2 1/2 in .44 mag for my Redhawk, because for this revolver, my experience they provide most consistent firing, where I had some issues with that using WLP primers for that caliber in that revolver.
