Think the way you will. That's your prerogative. But, Fred Bear started it all. That can't be argued, even by you!Who hasn't hunted with a guide, filmed a hunt,or taken a less than ethical shot? For that, you want to make an effort at down playing his accomplishments? Get real!!
All I was pointing out was what you typed, that I bolded. Many people who idolize Fred Bear are quick to jump on how hunting has become to commercialized, tv shows, etc. Kind of contradicting view points is all I was saying.

Can't downplay Fred Bears success, it is amazing. He did things that most hunters can only dream of. He also did things that most hunters wouldnt dream of though.

No point in arguing semantics over this. All I was pointing out was that Fred Bear did indeed start it all, including the commercialization that many hate today. Doesnt mean he wasnt successful as a hunter or businessman, obviously he excelled in both. Heck it still amazes me how he went on so mant safaris and deep wilderness hunts living back then. But his methods were no different than many modern hunters who accomplish many of the same feats.
