Default RE: Magnum charges.........??

Most of the powders can be made to shoot accuratly in some guns, the APP and the powders that have the same base are very tricky and in my opinion not as dependable,I used APP for a couple years but every once in a while I got a can that was eratic, it is also 250 or 300 fps slower with the same load. Pyrodex is an old favorite and very consistant a bit dirty and very corrosivebut it is soft dirt and easy to deal with it is right about the middle in both burning range and velocity. 777 is a high enegrypowder and has very hard crud and has to be wiped every shot and if you get crud ring you have to scrub between each shot till you get it out. Last but best on the list is the new Blackhorn 209 it is noncorosivehas the most enegry [it is just a bit faster than 777FFF] and shoots best if you do not wipe between shots it is also the most expensive and this bothers some people; I personally can only get out to shoot once a week on an average and when I do my time is valuable enough to me to use the best. You ask about loads well one of my favorite is a 200 gr SW in my Triumph with 120 gr of BH209I get groups that are just over an inch on average chrony an average of 2255 are sighted at 3" high at 100yds dead on between 170 1nd 175 yds and 3" to 4" low at 200yds I have used this bullet on deer and boar several times and have always been pleased with the results. I can actually get tighter groups with 110 gr of BH209 and may very well use that even though I get a bit more drop. I hope this helps you get a bit better idea of what you might like to do. Lee
