I find the word " Irresponsible" a bit strong. I say good on him if he can pull off the shot in the heat of the moment.
Well it is pretty obvious from your story that your friend didn' t " pull it off" . Otherwise there would have been no need for a second and thrid shot now would there? Irresponsible is not quite strong enough in my opinion.
