You are correct journeyman, I had forgot about public ground. What I meant was that there is not a statewide requirement. I have never hunted the public grounds, they are all too far away from me. Matador is about 50 miles, but when you can hunt private ground 10 miles from home...

I cannot ever remember having to check in deer that were killed on private ground, though it may have been a requirement at some point. Do you have any knowledge of this?
No, just SOME of the public land. Its not a requirement at all WMAs or National forests. However for spring Eastern turkeys in east TX, all birds have to be checked public or private land. I wonder how many less poached deer there would be in Tx if we had to check them.
