First...I think most of what you've read was the original Quad 400. Not the AVI design.
The AVI has different limbs, different cams, some of the trigger is different. You should be fine.
I've got an original design Quad 400. The only trouble I had was a bad trigger pull. Ended up fixing it myself...all is well now.
I did quite a bit of shooting it last weekend....no problems what so ever.

While not in the class of the Darton, Bowtech, Horton (Recon), and most likely other higher priced bows (I can't claim on bows I don't own!), it is plenty usable and fairly accurate.
