RE: Do you remember your first deer?
I was 15 years old and it was 1963. I had a brand new Remington 742 30-06 with a 2-7 Redfield scope. My father dropped me off on a known deer run up on the mountain and went down through a swamp to hunt a little spot he liked. The first hour I counted 22 deer but didn't see any antlers. The 23rd deer came up the trail and it had 3 points. Dropped it on the spot then my uncle climbed up to the spot and showed me/ helped me field dress the deer. I was the toast of the camp that night as we wolfed down fresh tenderloins.
