Default RE: Question for guys who consistently kill bucks.....

I hunt such a variety of ways that it's not possible to answer your questions.
That's a great answer.

How I choose my stand sites is kind of a gut feeling. The spot just seems like a good spot. I believe my gut feeling comes from years of hunting and knowing what types of areas I have been successful in the past. I have found this to be almost impossible to teach to someone else.
And so is that. Respect.

Oh no, you're right. It doesn't "seem" to....It does. Which is why, as you've said in the past, that "cookie cutter" methods don't work for everybody. I was just posting in the deer movement during mid day thread that I see WAY more deer during a full moon than a new, which also goes against the grain. I honestly don't know if it's "my deer" or my style....I really don't. Maybe I'm doing it completely wrong and the wrong way works for me.....

But in recent years, I would hunt sign and trails. And I would be lying if I told you it wasn't effective......for killing does. It was, and is. But I RARELY saw any bucks at all. Which also goes against the grain...Hunt the does, and come the rut you'll find the bucks. Not me. Don't know why, but it doesn't work that way. I guess it's because I was hunting too "broad" an area.....Now that I hunt pinch points, I see more, and kill more.

I really wish I could expound more, but I really can't.....because I don't know why, I just know it works.
Another example of a hunter just having that "gut instinct" guiding him. Kudos, Don.

My point is, just because one doesnt see a mature buck, maybe all season, doesnt mean they arent there.
NJ...I believe this more today than I did even a week ago. Good point.
