Coyotes are like people, lazy by nature but motivated by need. If a coyote can find good cover or den location within a quarter mile of a good water source and a good food source, it's not likely it will travel very far outside two miles even to breed. On the other hand, if a coyote can't find food very easily, or a secure den location can't be found within miles of the food source, then it's likely that they will travel for many many miles every day, maybe 5 miles a day give or take 2-3.
