I've planted chufa for the last two years just south of Atlanta. It has done very well. My plot is in sandy river bottom land which makes it easier for the turkeys to scratch up. It is a great winter food source for the birds. They seem to hit it hard from late fall until green-up in the spring. Last week there were over 40 turkeys in the plot when I drove up. One note of caution, hogs will wipe out a patch if they find it.
