There are definately quite a few elk in the area, but I have seen a fair amout of hunters when I have been in there. I have hunted bow and muzzleloading seasons and have always bumped into several hunters on most days. I did not go in farther than about 3-4 miles, but with that wilderness, it is harder to get much farther since it is long (east to west) and not so deep (north to south). FYI, I have only hunted on the south side of the wilderness.
