Default I"m REALLY starting to get used to my...

... new release!

I blank-baled forever with it, shot it without sights for what seemed like forever, and then just shot it some more... never could get used to the concept without hands-on instruction and I wanted to do it "right"... but, man -- did I know something wasn't right! My pin float was everywhere, and it just wasn't working.

A quick tip from Matt / PA last week, and everything clicked. I even took the new Connie fully rigged to my last shoot, knowing it would probably be pretty ugly early on -- and it was. But I was willing to sacrifice another trophy to commit to this.

After dropping a SLEW of points in the first half, I came back to only shoot four down the last 20. The guy who's won the state championship three of the last four years was shooting in the group in front of me, and he finished two down for the shoot -- so that puts me in the ballpark at the end at least.

I'm sticking to my game plan, and I'll be working hard for the next year on yardage and really, really getting comfortable with this whole setup en route to making a run at the state championship... that is, if my writing doesn't get too much in the way of it. But it's looking like a realistic goal for now.

Granted, that was at 25 yards tonight... but it was my first five shots, and I actually aimed to the left on that last one a hair to keep from busting a nock again.

It sure as heck beats sending those shafts intothose woods back there.
