Some people don' t use buckshot the right way. They must think that just because the shot spreds that it gives them the ability the take bad shots or something. But I have taken many deer with 2-3/4" 00 9 pellet buckshot and they ALWAYS dropped on the spot. I always tried for a neck shot though.

IMO, buckshot is very effective if used the right way.
