Default RE: New Gun/Caliber Suggestion

IMO the .338 Federal is perfectfrom your description ofwhat you like in a rifle and there is no reason in the world why this cartridge shouldn't catch on with the public and hand around for a long time. The 338 Federal only gives up about 90 yards worth of velocity and energyto the .338 Win mag with the same 210 grain partition bullet. So if the 338 Win mag can be considered a 400 yard elk cartridge then the Federal would be equal to it at about 310 yards. It shouldn't be too long before other ammo companies pick up this round.

The 325WSM, I'm afrade to say, will likely go the way of the WSSM's. Here for a few years and then gone.

The RCM's, at least for a while, you are going ot be stuck with Hornady ammo only. Not that that is a bad thing but it will be hard for any one else to duplicate Hornday's velocity claims with out their powders.

The 350 Rem is another fantastic choice in a short action rifle. Only problem with it is tht ammo selection is very limited and not likely to get any better. AS far as I know Remington is the only major ammo company currently loading this cartridge.
