Default RE: Your Other Life-

Factory worker, I also do security in between factory jobs. Factory work isn't too steady anymore, I tend to get laid off every couple of years and have to look for a new job. So far my record is a little over 4 years at one job. I have never been fired or quit, the places either close or have big layoffs that I get caught up in. I have worked at Mag Industries (flashlights), and a few other machine shops, one I was in quality control. I worked in a glass factory, a tire factory, an iron foundry, Campbell's soups, Tecumseh Products, and currently work at Blissfield Manufacturing where we make oil coolers among other things. Mostly braze work, we have four large braze ovens.

I work 4 days a week 10 hours a day with three day weekends. I'm on my feet all day with some heavy lifting depending on the job I do. And the parts are pretty hot as well, the ovens run at around 2,000 degrees. Not the best job during the summer.

I make 13 bucks an hour with decent insurance 80/20 with optical and 50 percent dental coverage. They take half my check for child support though, so I only make $200 a week, $180 on the week they take union dues out. Sadly, this is one of the better jobs I have had.
