Droptine makes some good points here. Is there an option C of both? IMO, not only does it depend on what crops are in the fields, but the time of year and what type of land is around it. If your fields are the only food source and everything else around you is timber, it would be hard to say no to the food. I love corn fields, they produce and hold deer year around. In my area the deer love standing corn and when it comes down it becomes one of the major food sources. However, if it were beans, the deer hit it early but migrate to other food sources later in the year, so in that case I would take the timber. You best option is BOTH.
