I know they are not legal out in some of the Western States, and that kind of surprises me when you consider the weight of the bullet and all. I am sure they do that so people would not try to hunt large game with a .45 caliber roundball. Maybe they are worried of wounding and not recovering animals. I really do not know their reason, but it is their State so they do as they feel right..
The 488 grain measures 1.205 inches long and it is a true .451 in diameter. I have no idea of the velocity with 75 grains of Pyrodex Pbut when they hit that steel trap of mine it makes a really cool ringing sound.
