Bring some extra CASH. We, on numerous occations, have hired some other hunter nearby our camp with horsesto go in and bring out our downed elk. We have always quartered the meat and then along with the back straps and loins we'll try and throw in as much of the "scrap" meat as we can. It's also nice when one of your hunt partners is a ritired meat cutter...You may have to throw a GPS reading on your meats location so that the guy on the horse can find it.
