RE: do you protect your spots
I was down at the fuel station one day, filling my slip tank with diesel, alocal guy I know drives up and we start bullchitting about elk and whitetails. He then tells me he knows who hasthe sheds to a big buck I killed a year earlier, I said oh really, I'd love to see them and ifyou don't mind would can you give me a general idea of wherethey werefound ... Of course guys love to talk so he goes on...He says sure,he found them right out there behind your place, just over the ridge, I said oh really, I sold that place 2 years ago! I live about 50 miles away from there and had killed the buck he was referencing about 40 miles from where he claimed he had found his sheds.. (That buck of mine sure must of hadone hell of aRANGE!)
Yeah, I dont talk to anyone locally about where I hunt. Never. To many guys around here think that its only about location when thats onlypart of it. They don't realize they have a big bruiser buck living in their area too and the buck just has them andmost all hunterspatterned much better than they do him. I know I don't really have any better spots in my hunting areasimo than others, I just get to know the area and the animals that run around it much better than most.
