just i little heads up the canadian millitary never used a 308, they used the 7.62 nato, which is really the same bullet but if you were to use a 7.62 out of a 308 your gun would blow because the 7.62 was loaded for much more pressure,
I think you may be confused. .308 Win. rounds are routinely loaded to chamber pressures in excess of 60,000 psi. I believe 7.62 NATO rounds are loaded to pressures closer to 50,000 psi. I don't see why any modern arm couldn't fire either round safely. I plan to use factory .308 Win. 150 gr. PSP ammo in my Springfield Armory M1A for some deer hunting. If anyone believes this could cause a problem, I'd appreciate a heads up...
