Default RE: Second Gun - big game hunting

Thank you Alsatian and salukipv1! It seems there is a consensus that a .300 is pointless when I already have a .30-06. So I should considersomething in the .338 neighborhood. It seems with today's prices it makes more sense to consider the cost of the ammo than the initial cost of the rifle. Sort of like gas prices and vehicle. Yes, I am definitely in grizzly bear country here in Washington, and someday I may hunt one with this rifle (Alaska, etc), but it will be predominately be a long range deer/elk/moose gun. Of course it wont be used tohunt blacktails, but I'm wondering if a .338 would be too much for a mulley at 400 yards. Its clear to me that 99% of everyone knows more about terminal balistics than I do so I'll just have to gather enough opinions.
