Well. I got my 2nd bird this evening! I got to the farm at 3:30 pm and it was a little warm with a light on, off drizzle. Saw the first tom at about 4:15 and no matter what I did, he wasn't leaving the hen he was with. Then about 5:30, I found a second tom in a large field at the back of the farm. I set up in the only spot I could without getting busted, but I couldn't set up a decoy without him seeing me. Started calling and he was steadily going away from me(about 200 yards). He was strutting and gobbling but with the wind blowing lightly, I guess since he couldn't see a hen then he couldn't get a fix on where she was. He dropped behind a little rise and I belly crawled out into the field and put out my decoy. Started calling again and he reappeared. He sees my decoy and clears the 250 yards plus in about 5 minutes. But then he moves all the way to the tree line I'm in, but 100 yards to my right. After about 15 minutes, I belly crawl back out into the field to see where he went. Yep... He's GONE! I had a feeling he was trying to get behind me, so I quickly move through the tree line to my rear and set up. Sure enough, there he comes and after about 5 minutes and a little light calling the deal was sealed. I shot him at 6:50 pm! It seemed like a long time, but it was definitely worth it! 20 pounds 3 ounces, 10 1/4 inch beard, 1 1/4 right spur and 1 1/8 left spur.
