Default lube for patches

I want to thank the person (I believe it was Coondog#1) who posted the information about using NAPA water soluable oil in a 1 part oil to 4 parts water mixture as a lube for the patches for round ball shooting.

I bought a pint of it and made a mixture of 4/1 in a jar. Soaked strips of .015 pillow tick in it until saturated, then dried them outside. You could feel how the oil has saturated the cloth. I tested them in the backyard, and I AM SOLD ON THIS!!

Using my walking/shooting stick as my rest, I shot the tightest groups I have shot in a long time, using my .54 caliber Renegade, and using my .50 caliber Tradition' s Hawkins. I noticed the pressure seemed more then when I used the bore butter, and I was shooting Clean Shot powder. I wonder what will happen when I shoot with Pyrodex Select?

This also cleaned up beautiful. If you have not tried this as a lube, I strongly suggest you give it a try...
